Ceramic Plungers

Product Details

Bruin Instruments offers ceramic coated plungers for increased corrosion and wear resistance. The coating consists of sub-micron ceramic particles bonded to a stainless steel plunger. The chemical bond, particulate hardness and polished surface finish of the dense ceramic result in unrivalled wear resistance with improved protection from the harshest of chemical environments.

Benefits

The coating increases surface hardness and improves the component life significantly. An extremely fine grain structure reduces friction and gives the plungers extraordinary wear resistance. The solid, porosity free coating creates an anti-fouling barrier and increases plunger life in the most corrosive environments.

  • Low Friction, Increased Packing Life
  • Extreme Wear Resistance
  • Increased Corrosion Resistance
  • Improved Anti-Galling Surface

Density

The coating process produces no exposed porosity and completely protects plunger from corrosive chemical damage.

Hardness

Composite Hardness: 1000 – 1800 Vickers
In comparison to standard plungers:

  • 17-4 Stainless Steel plungers: ~286 Vickers
  • 316 Stainless Steel plungers: ~150 Vickers
